Calendar & Daily Notes
The Calendar provides a temporal view of your vault. It acts as the navigation hub for your Daily Notes, habit tracking, and scheduled tasks.
The Calendar Dock View
Access the calendar from the left or right side dock, or run Calendar: Open calendar view from the command palette.
Daily Note Navigation
- Open Existing Note: Clicking any day with an existing daily note opens that note in your active editor.
- Create New Daily Note: Clicking a date that lacks a note prompts Basalt to create it instantly using your configured naming pattern and daily note template.
- Visual Activity Dots: Dots beneath calendar dates indicate note creation, journal entries, or pending task deadlines on that day.
Daily Notes Configuration
Configure your daily notes workflow in Settings → Daily Notes:

Calendar Display Settings
In Settings → Calendar, you can customize display preferences:
- First Day of Week: Choose
auto(uses system locale),Monday, orSunday. - Show Week Numbers: Displays ISO week numbers along the left edge of each calendar row.
Daily Note Commands
