Basalt

Basalt is an Obsidian-class desktop Markdown workspace: a Tauri (Rust) backend with a React frontend, built for power users with huge vaults. The bar is sub-16ms input latency, <800ms TTI, and <150ms search on 5k notes — every change is measured against that feel.

What's here​

  • Reference — syntax: task signifiers, DQL grammar, commands, settings.
  • Architecture — how the codebase is put together: the four-layer model, registries, lexicon, Rust crates.

Source of truth​

ADRs in docs/adr/ record why decisions were made; these docs curate how to use and how it fits together, and link back rather than copy. Feature ship status lives in docs/STATUS.md.
